Kratos celebrates completion of first MQM-178 Firejet
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has produced the first MQM-178 Firejet aerial target at its newly opened production facility in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the company announced on 17 April.
The production facility was opened in November 2018 to accommodate the existing and increasing demand for its newest line of jet-powered aerial systems.
Firejet provides users the opportunity to test multiple weapon systems with single flexible unmanned aerial target system. The system is capable of carrying a combination of internal and external payloads including tow targets, proximity scoring, passive and active radio frequency augmentation and infrared augmentation. The Firejet system can be launched from land as well as from ships with a pneumatic launcher.
The Oklahoma City production facility will also be the future home of the XQ-58A Valkyrie system, which flew for the first time in March.
