ITEC 2019: New home for Leonardo Italian Air Force training school

Leonardo and the Italian Air Force will move the International Flight Training School to a new and dedicated facility at Decimomanu in 2021 in an attempt to bring trainee pilots closer to the action and expand training capabilities.

The new facility will include a supersonic area on both the left and the right side of the base and students will also have increased exposure to international exercises, explained a Leonardo spokesperson at IDEF 2019.

The new base will have more than 40 instructors, selected by the Italian Air Force and will be able to train 80 trainees per annum.
