Virtual terrain and database specialists, TerraSim, has launched a new terrain server technology designed to support the US Army’s emerging Synthetic Training Environment (STE) initiative.
The STE World Server (STEWS) stores and distributes geospatial data to render different image generator applications. These different terrain data layers can be streamed at run-time using open standards into any STE-connected client application.
According to TerraSim, the new application addresses the perennial issue of managing legacy databases through, ‘data processing tools to modify and optimise the data’.
