The US Army Research Laboratory continues to advance its Augmented Reality Sandtable (ARES), which is aiming to give soldiers greater battlefield visualisation compared with older 'sandbox' methods.

Shephard spoke to Charles Amburn, a senior instructional systems specialist at ARL, about how the technology is evolving to include new interfaces for visualisation and additional models for end users.
