I/ITSEC 2017: US Army to acquire WIAMan
The US Army is set to invest in the new Warrior Injury Assessment Manikin (WIAMan) anthropomorphic test device (ATD) which is set to go into to production in 2018.
The main objective of the WIAMAN is to create a scientifically valid under-body blast (UBB) injury assessment capability when testing ground vehicles. The US Army's Research Laboratory (ARL) showcased the manikin at I/ITSEC 2017.
The project began in 2010 as part of the Army Research Laboratory, which was run out of the ARL. Now that the capability is moving towards acquisition it is being moved into PEO STRI for that process
