Hyundai launches South Korean training ship

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) launched an auxiliary training ship for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) at its Ulsan shipyard on 16 November. The $23 million contract for this vessel was signed in June 2016.

Christened Hansando and bearing the hull number 81, the 4,500t training vessel is expected to be commissioned in early 2021. To satisfy its training mission, Hansando has dual bridges, combat information centres and engineering compartments.
