First Czech Air Force L-159T2 flies
Aero Vodochody has successfully completed the maiden flight of the first L-159T2 aircraft for the Czech Air Force, the company announced on 9 August.
The flight of L-159T2 with tail number 6028 lasted 30 minutes.
This is the first of three twin seat L-159T2 aircraft with upgrades ordered by Czech Air Force in 2016 for operational missions and advanced jet training. The aircraft are expected to be delivered to 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Čáslav by the end of 2018.
The new L-159T2 aircraft features newly built central and forward fuselage, several significant improvements, mostly in equipment of both cockpits and in the fuel system, and is fully night vision goggle compatible.
The aircraft’s cockpit features two multi-function displays and an upgraded version of the VS-20 ejection seat. The aircraft is also equipped with Grifo radar, commonly used in single seat version, countermeasures and radar warning receiver. The aircraft is also adapted to offer a pressure refueling capability.
