The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has licensed multi-spectral simulation software developed by Defence Science and Technology (DST) to Adelaide-based Consilium Technology to be marketed globally as Infinite Studio, the DoD announced on 29 August.
The technology allows users to create real-time simulations of the world in the visible, infra-red and ultra-violet parts of the electromagnetic spectrum using affordable desktop computing hardware and modern gaming engines. The technology builds on DST’s multi-spectral visualisation system, VIRSuite. Consilium Technology has added new capabilities, performance and fidelity to take the technology to a wider range of markets and
application domains.
The licensing agreement for the technology will support virtual and constructive simulation activities for defence and civilian applications. The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
