Canada selects Textron NEWTS
Textron Systems Electronic Systems has been selected by Canada to provide the New Electronic Warfare Threat Simulator (NEWTS), an implementation of its Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator (A2PATS), it announced on 1 June.
Textron Systems' A2PATS was selected as a solution for Canada's NEWTS programme. It features direct port architecture for NEWTS complete modularity, reduced life cycle costs and logistical footprint, and greater system availability. The NEWTS is ready to test within 30 minutes from a daily cold start will all signals across all dynamic and frequency ranges aligned in frequency, phase, amplitude and time.
The A2PATS electromagnetic environment simulator features electronic intelligence, communications and warfare capabilities. Its environment facilitates the precise identification, location and defence against surface-to-air and ground-based threats. It is an open-architecture simulator distributing multiple RF synthesisers in an expandable, modular system.
Steve Mensh, senior vice president and general manager, Textron Systems Electronic Systems, said: 'We are proud to have been selected by the government of Canada to satisfy its NEWTS requirement.
'By leveraging the A2PATS system components, the NEWTS becomes a state-of-the-art system on the forefront of electronic warfare simulation technology designed for rapid enhancement and upgrades for future threat requirements.'
