Cubic tailors mortar simulator for the US Army
The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
Rheinmetall has received a contract from the German Bundeswehr to provide tank training rounds, the company announced on 19 November.
The €21.4 million ($24.4 million) contract includes 13,000 rounds of 120mm x 570 DM88 ammunition. Delivery will begin in November 2018 and complete by the end of the year.
The DM88 is an advanced practice round made specifically for the Leopard 2 main battle tank. It is identical to the service ammunition developed by Rheinmetall, and meets the Bundeswehr’s full range of specifications with regard to precision and handling safety.

The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
