Cubic tailors mortar simulator for the US Army
The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
Boeing will continue maintenance and support of the US Air Force’s T-38 Talon trainer aircraft fleet through to 2026 under a new contract announced on 14 January. The ten year contract is worth up to $855 million.
The T-38 is the primary training jet for the air force. Boeing will maintain and support avionics, cockpit displays, control panels, and communications systems for the 456-strong fleet, and will upgrade 37 aircrew training devices.
Kurt Schroeder, T-38 program manager, said: ‘We are playing a vital role in preparing pilots to make the transition to modern fighter aircraft. Working with our air force customers, Boeing is keeping the T-38 mission ready for the next decade.’
Boeing is currently teamed with Saab to compete for the air force programme to replace the T-38 with the T-X pilot training system. The team will offer an all-new, purpose-built system that includes the aircraft and associated ground-based training and support systems.

This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
