BISim receives Swedish simulation contract
Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) has received a multi-year, multi-million dollar renewable contract from the Swedish armed forces to develop 3D model content and simulation training capabilities in its Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3) simulation training solution, it announced in late March.
Under the contract, BISim will also develop a training application for Sweden’s RBS17 Hellfire shore defence system for use with VBS3. Additionally, the company will deliver new content including additional character models, weapons, vehicles and munitions. BISim will also provide customised training and terrain development and technical services and support.
The software, which features an after-action review tool, helps soldiers make decisions, learn to think and improve communications before heading to the field for live exercises. VBS3 is used for tactical training and mission rehearsal on desktop computers, and part-task trainers and full-mission simulators.
The contract also includes delivery of an application for joint terminal attack controller and forward observer team training. BISim will provide the VBS3 Fires FST as part of the solution.
