Aptima to develop DCGS training system
Aptima has received a $12.42 million contract from the US Air Force (USAF) for the development of a virtual training environment for Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) operations, the company announced on 8 June.
The DCGS is the USAF’s primary platform for collecting and analysing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) to support its missions. The new virtual training system is designed to better prepare operators tasked with producing actionable intelligence from its globally networked systems and sensors.
DCGS operators currently rely on live, on-the-job training during missions. By transitioning to a scenario-based simulator the development of both individual positional skills and crew competencies will be enhanced for operators who process, analyse, and share actionable intelligence from a variety of video, geospatial and other data sources.
The scenario-based training solution will incorporate Aptima’s A-Measure software, which measures trainee performance in live, virtual and constructive environments (LVC), and its Advanced Learning Management platform, which dynamically adapts instruction to optimise each trainee’s learning.
