Airborne Industries announces new contracts
Airborne Industries has announced a new contract to supply Parachute Training Balloons to the Belgian Army.
The Belgian Army uses Airborne Industries’ Parachute Training Balloon Systems at its Parachute Training School in Schaffen. The company has a contract to support these systems until 2019, and this most recent order will see the delivery of a new balloon in 2016.
Stuart Haycock, managing director, Airborne Industries, said: ‘We are very excited to continue the legacy of supplying Parachute Training Balloons to the Belgium Army. This contract means that Airborne Industries’ Parachute Training Balloons have been in almost uninterrupted use at the Parachute Training School in Belgium since 1974.’
A second contract has also been signed with an unnamed customer in the Asia Pacific region. This contract covers the delivery of two Parachute Training Balloons. The first has already been delivered and the second is scheduled to be delivered in May 2016.
The balloons provide a safe and reliable platform for training in static line jumps, and allows training to be planned and executed independently of aircraft availability.
Haycock added: ‘The use of tethered balloons in parachute training offers a cost-effective alternative to using an aircraft and also has the benefit of being readily available.’
