Venezuela to enhance SOF capabilities

Venezuela’s special operations forces are set to receive a USD $20 million uplift in materiel and equipment, according to President Nicolas Maduro.

Announcing the news on 2nd March 2018 in Caracas, Maduro described Venezuela’s special operations forces as the “difference maker” in armed conflict over the years to come. 

The increased investment comprises one of the main objectives of the Strategic Operational Command of the National Armed Forces, which is to “develop and strengthen” its special operations forces and rapid reaction forces.
