USSOCOM looks to austere basecamps

USSOCOM has announced that it will host a Generation X Austere Basecamp capabilities assessment event (CAE) on 28-29 August 2018, at the SOFWERX facility in Tampa, Florida. 

SOFWERX is holding the event in collaboration with USSOCOM’s J4 Operational Engineering which seeks to shape and set conditions for logistics solutions to sustain global SOF operations.

According to the 2 July announcement, the purpose of the CAE is “to identify innovative and emerging technologies for power, waste/water management, construction materials/methods, and force protection/sensitive compartmented information facility at small and austere basecamps.” 

The announcement reflects basecamp elements scalable from 12 to 400
