NROL-47 payload launched
United Launch Alliance (ULA) has successfully launched a Delta IV rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base, carrying the NROL-47 mission payload for the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), the company announced on 12 January.
This mission was launched aboard a Delta IV Medium+ (5, 2) configuration Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) powered by one common booster core and two solid rocket motors.
Established by the US Air Force, the EELV programme provides assured access to space for US Department of Defense and other government payloads.
NROL-47 payload will fulfil missions in support of US national defence.
Will Crawford, NRO program manager, ULA, said: ‘As the nation's most trustworthy launch provider, today's launch exemplifies ULA's ongoing commitment to 100% mission success.’
