​SOFINS: French Navy SF showcases commando craft

The French Navy Special Forces (SF) displayed its Embarked Commando Craft for Multiple Uses (ECUME) rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) at the SOFINS exhibition.

Developed by Zodiac Milpro as the Hurricane ZH-930, the ECUME is a 9.35m long multipurpose RHIB designed to replace the French Navy SF's fleet of Commando Fast Transport Crafts (ETRACO), which entered service in 1996.

A total of 15 ECUME have been procured by the Navy SF with the delivery of the latest examples taking place in mid-2016, as one navy SF operator explained to Shephard.

Of these, 11 are operated by the Ponchardier Commando,
