SOFIC 2018: ThunderDrone update

The US Special Operations Command’s (USSOCOM’s) year-long ThunderDrone experimentation program will wrap up on 20th June 2018, SOFWERX officials have confirmed.

Addressing delegates at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida on 22 May, SOFWERX director Tambrien Bates described how the event would culminate in a third and final Rapid Prototyping Event (RTE).

Due to be held in Las Vegas between 18-20 June, the event will see SOFWERX observing a series of "offensive experiments outlined during RPE 1," which was executed between 5th September and 3rd November 2017.
