SOFIC 2018: SOF surgery heads to the front

There are two ways to address the so-called “golden hour” of combat casualty care. The first involves the traditional process of rapidly treating and transporting the wounded warfighter to a hospital setting. The second, which is a much newer approach, moves the hospital setting to the wounded warfighter. 

That second scenario is currently being employed by US special operations forces in support of combat partners.

James Smith, USSOCOM Acquisition Executive, highlighted the new approach in his address at this week’s Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC).
