SOF seeks low-cost armor-piercing ammo

The US military is seeking industry help to identify or develop low-cost armor-piercing ammunition in a number of calibers of particular interest to United States Special Operations Command. Government interest in the new ammunition was outlined in a 12 August 2019 RfI released by Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division.

According to the announcement, NSWC Crane representatives are conducting the market survey to determine the availability, technical capability, and logistics capability of industry to provide specific information about a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), non-developmental item (NDI), or near NDI, for low-cost armor-piercing ammunition.
