SOF munition enhancements explored

United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) have successfully conducted initial testing of an enhanced variant of the Dynetics GBU-69/B Small Glide Munition (SGM), which US special operations elements are using off the AC-130 gunship and other platforms

The new “Block I” variant of the GBU-69/B incorporates a two-way datalink.

According to a Dynetics company release, the USSOCOM/AFSOC flight tests, which were conducted in February 2019, “achieved all test objectives including sending via the datalink updated target coordinates from the launch platform to the SGM, redirecting the munition to a secondary target located
