Qatar opens special ops training center

The Qatar Special Operations Command (Q-SOC) is set to benefit from a new state-of-the-art training facility following a deal confirmed at the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) on 12 March 2018.

The BUROQ Special Marine Operations Training Center, defense sources associated with the Q-SOC explained, will support force components including the Joint Special Forces (JSF) unit with special emphasis maritime counter-terrorism (MCT) training.

Turkish company MDS Defense Technologies and Construction has been tasked with the development of the facility which will comprise a previously-described design totaling more than 130-acres in size.
