Special forces need tools to fight ‘wars on the horizon’, says USSOCOM chief

The Commanding General of US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has highlighted how SOF must be suitably equipped to handle a trio of ‘wars on the horizon’.

Addressing delegates in a virtual environment at the SOF Industry Conference (SOFIC) from the SOFWERX facility in Tampa, Florida, Gen Richard Clarke described how SOF must be prepared to continue campaigns against violent extremist organisations (VEOs), in addition to the ‘War on Influence’ and ‘War for Talent’.

Citing the US National Security Strategy, Clarke explained how SOF will remain an ‘integral part of our nation’s solution to tough strategic problems’.
