MMP makes its mark in Mali
The French Army has disclosed details regarding the use of MBDA’s Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP) land combat missile system on operations in West Africa.
Speaking to Shephard, service officials confirmed an undisclosed number of munitions had been supporting ‘conventional warfare’ fire missions as part of counter-insurgency operations in Mali since March 2019.
Sources confirmed that MMPs were being employed by the French Army and special operations forces from tripods, to target buildings and compounds as well as soft-skinned vehicles including vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs).
