Malaysian Army calls for special forces vehicles
Malaysia issued two tenders on 9 January inviting Finance Ministry-registered companies to supply special operations vehicles (SOV) for the Malaysian Army’s Gerakhas special forces unit. A total of 20 vehicles were called for in the two tenders, with the first asking for 16 special operations vehicles.
Specifications in the tender were listed as ‘standard’ along with the following statement: ‘There is a requirement for the special service units to be equipped with a special operations vehicle that is capable of conducting special operations deep in enemy-held territory. The vehicle shall be capable of manoeuvring in hostile terrain with great emphasis
