Japan to set up DARPA-style institute to tackle evolving threat of cyber warfare
Japan’s Ministry of Defense is devoting government-level effort and funding to tackling the growing problem of cyber warfare.
BIRD Aerosystems has received a three year follow-on contract to provide maintenance and support services to the Mexican government’s Special Mission Aircraft Solutions (ASIO) Special Mission Aircraft fleet.
The SMA fleet includes Cessna Citation aircraft modified for ground surveillance missions, special mission Bell 407 helicopters, headquarters and intervention vehicles.
The contract includes aircraft maintenance and support, maintenance inspections, refresher and initial training courses for the operational crew, provision of spare parts, ground support equipment and special tools to enable the operational availability of the fleet.
The contract also includes a variety of system upgrades including the mission system capabilities, night vision operation capabilities and fleet modernisation.
BIRD Aerosystems' ASIO solution is installed across the fleet, allowing operating teams to share a unified overview and real-time situational awareness, enhancing security of borders, strategic sites and infrastructure.The ASIO solution integrates with BIRD’s mission management system and features the latest surveillance and monitoring sensors.
Ronen Factor, co-chief executive officer and founder, BIRD Aerosystems, said: ‘The ASIO systems were provided to the Mexican government three years ago, together with a three year full service plan. This renewal of the contract for three additional years is a sign of proof for BIRD Aerosystems' high-end products and on-site services.'
