Will more ASW capabilities be added to UK naval fleet?

As the UK invests in ASW capabilities to meet the growing threats in the naval domain, queries from parliament are rising over the reduction in frigate numbers and if this capability gap will be filled by other international allies or through future procurement programmes.

At a parliamentary Defence Select Committee hearing on 22 May, Gavin Williamson, defence secretary, spoke on the nation’s role as a leading player in NATO and international politics as the UK’s maritime role increases, its impending departure from the EU and as a result of growing threats in this area.
