USN picks contractor to support Trident re-entry body components
Peraton has been awarded a $102 million follow-on engineering services contract from the USN Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) office.
The company will assist in acquisition, development, deployment and operational support of re-entry body components of the Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile, as the submarine-launched ballistic missile undergoes refurbishment and life extension programmes.
Most of the work under the contract will be conducted in Colorado, with additional work to be performed in Washington DC, New Mexico, Florida and Nebraska.
Submarines equipped with Trident II D5 include the Ohio and Columbia classes in the USN, and the Dreadnought and Vanguard classes in the RN.
