USN and RN to receive more Trident missiles
The USN Strategic Systems Programs office has awarded Lockheed Martin Space Systems a $498.44 million sole-source contract modification to produce Trident II D5 submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) and provide support for deployed systems.
The value of the modification, including all options if exercised, is $1.22 billion.
This contract covers nuclear missiles for the USN and UK RN (a fellow Trident operator), and work is expected to be completed by 30 September 2026.
Submarines equipped with the Trident II D5 missile include the Ohio and Columbia classes in the USN, and the Dreadnought and Vanguard classes in the RN.
