US doubles its presence in the Middle East to de-escalate tensions in the region
The US is doubling its presence in the Middle East due to recent Houthi militants’ attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as the Lebanese Hezbollah offensive against Israel last weekend.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (CSG 9), which was already on station in the region, was joined by USS Abraham Lincoln (CSG 3) with the goal of reducing tensions in the area and beefing up supporting to Jerusalem.
