Ukraine seeks Islands for Black Sea

The Ukraine has reached an agreement in principal for the purchase of up to 17 Island-class patrol boats.

Senior officials from the Ukrainian naval service said that the time frame could see some of the vessels arriving by November this year and are part of longer-term plans to revive fleet numbers and capability.

According to RAdm Andrey Tarasov, head of Ukrainian naval forces, negotiations are currently being finalised but he hoped for a quick conclusion to talks. ‘A principal agreement has been reached. I hope that this process will be speedy and we will get these boats as soon as
