UDT 2018: Bids in for UK ORCA programme
Bids for the UK Royal Navy’s programme to replace the combat management system (CMS) on its mine countermeasure vessels (MCMVs) were submitted in May, as the service looks to modernise its MCM capability.
Known as the Oceanographic, Reconnaissance, Combat Architecture (ORCA), companies submitted in response to an Invitation to Tender issued by the UK MoD in February.
Under ORCA the Naval Autonomous Tactical Information System (NAUTIS) 3 system fitted to the seven Sandown-class minehunters and the NAUTIS 4 system fitted to the eight Hunt-class MCMVs (pictured) will be replaced by a new CMS.
