Singaporean revelations about SMC
More details have been revealed about the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN) Specialised Maritime Craft (SMC), which will be employed for coastal interception and maritime security.
An SMC Type I, built mainly as a technology test bed, was unveiled in June. Lt Col Tan Say Yong, head of the SMC group, revealed that the RSN, Defence Science Technology Agency (DSTA) and ST Marine has now developed the Type II, which is 3m longer at 25m, has a wider beam at 6m and a weight increase to 45 tonnes.
The Type II will be the production vessel, with the RSN
