Russian missile corvette gets close-in weapons system
The first Karakurt-class (Project 22800) missile corvette for the Russian Navy, armed with the Pantsir-M close-in weapons system, kicked off its testing effort on 20 May.
According to the Russian MoD, the ship, named Odintsovo, was launched in October 2019 and is set for hand over to the Baltic Fleet this December.
It is the third Karakurt-class corvette built so far and the first one to be armed with the Pantsir-M SAM/AAA system for close-range air defence, while the first two of the class featured the older-generation AK-630M anti-aircraft artillery system.
