DSA 2018: Malaysian navy to get NSM
Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace will deliver Naval Strike Missiles (NSMs) worth $153 million to the Royal Malaysian Navy for its six new Littoral Combat Ships, under a contract announced on 18 April.
The ships, which are based on Naval Group’s Gowind-class design, are being built by Boustead Naval Shipyard. This contract follows on from an agreement announced in April 2015 for NSM shipboard equipment.
The NSMs will be mounted on the deck and integrated to the SETIS combat management system provided by Naval Group.
According to Eirik Lie, president of Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, the contract will provide the Royal Malaysian Navy with an important surface-to-surface missile capability.
