Sa’ar 6 vessels to use C-GEM and SEWS-DV
The Israeli Navy is to equip its four new Sa’ar 6 corvettes with two types of ship defence system.
One is C-GEM from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. This is an active offboard decoy system that can be packed into standard-size chaff rockets. It includes a low-power technique generator and high ERP arrays that transmit jamming signals.
Features outlined by Shephard Defence Insight include wide-frequency coverage, extended spatial coverage, solid-state active array, fire-and-forget operation, electronic beam-steering and fast response. The system is suitable for various launcher types.
