Regeneration of UK carrier capability promises payoff for US support

As the UK prepares to deploy its regenerated carrier strike capability in 2021, the performance of HMS Queen Elizabeth and its integrated RN, RAF and USMC air wing in Exercise Joint Warrior will be closely watched by defence observers, friend and foe alike. 

Indeed, Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey said on 28 September that ‘allies and adversaries alike will not fail to take note of the powerful new contribution the UK’s Carrier Strike Group offers NATO’. 

Running for 11 days from 5 October, the multi-domain exercise will see 28 warships and two submarines undertaking a range of missions
