Refurb of HMS Quorn for Lithuania to mirror Skalvis class capabilities

A future addition to the Lithuanian mine countermeasure (MCM) fleet, the UK RN’s former Hunt-class MCMV HMS Quorn (pictured above in 2011), will complete a multimillion-pound refurbishment programme by Q2 2023.

A 26 June contract opportunity notice from Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) stated that Lithuania was looking to expand its fleet of Hunt-class MCMVs via the procurement of a legacy hull from the UK RN, with regeneration of the vessel intended to be closely aligned to the Skalvis class in service with the Lithuanian Navy. 

The upgraded vessel will utilise Sonar 2193 and the M-CUBE MCM system, with ownership passing
