IMDEX Asia: Philippines receives second LPD

The Philippine Navy (PN) held a welcome ceremony for the second of its two Strategic Sealift Vessels (SSV) on 10 May. However, the commissioning of BRP Davao Del Sur (LD 602) will not occur until a later date once the PN has ensured the ship is free of defects.

The 123m-long landing platform dock (LPD) arrived in Manila on 8 May after sailing from Surabaya in Indonesia. PT Pal launched BRP Davao Del Sur on 29 September 2016, and it was delivered on schedule.
