Oman to receive fast patrol vessels
Ares Shipyard has received a contract to supply 14 Ares 85 Hercules fast patrol vessels to the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard (ROPCG) under a four-year acquisition programme.
The vessels will provide the ROPCG with an expanded capability to patrol and secure the nation’s waters.
The 26m fast patrol and interceptor vessel's current water jet propulsion system provides a speed of above 45kt. The vessel is armed with a 12.7mm auto stabilised remote controlled naval gun. The vessel also has a suite of maritime communications equipment, EO sensors and X-band naval radars, and it can launch and recover a military type rigid-hulled inflatable boat for boarding and SAR missions.
The company will also provide in-service support to the vessels.
