UDT Europe 2019: New Wyvern variants to be unveiled

UK naval design firm BMT is planning to present new models of its Wyvern submarine concept at Underwater Defence Technology (UDT) 2019.

In addition to a new coastguard variant (including a deck gun) that will be introduced during a conference at the event, there will be a ‘high-risk’ evolution of the initial ‘low-risk’ concept.

BMT launched the Wyvern in 2017 and have since been using it to work out how different technologies could operate on future submarine platforms.

Ian Parker, senior principle engineer at BMT, said: ‘Wyvern for us has been an excellent success.’
