Naval review 2019: The never-ending Year of the (Royal) Navy

Although 2017 was originally designated as the ‘Year of the Navy’ by the UK MoD, one could have been forgiven for thinking that this timeframe has been extended through 2018 and 2019 as the headline-grabbing hulks of the Queen Elizabeth-class carriers, sucked up mainstream attention like light into a black hole, much to the chagrin of the British Army and Royal Air Force.
