Germany's MKS 180 programme on track says MoD

The decision on the preferred design for Germany's MKS 180 next generation surface combatant is still on track according to the country’s MoD, despite concerns that it has been deferred.

Earlier reports by the German Press Agency DPA stated the design decision could be delayed into 2020. The first-in-class is expected to enter service with the German Navy by the middle of the next decade.

An MoD spokesperson told Shephard that greater importance is placed on the contract being properly negotiated and examined under the principle of 'front loading.'
