Lana embarks on delivery voyage to Nigeria
The Nigerian Navy is awaiting the arrival of its new survey-cum-patrol ship NNS Lana after the vessel left the OCEA shipyard in St Nazaire on 16 April.
Lana is due to arrive in Lagos by mid-May, according to OCEA.
The 60m-long vessel is based on the OSV 190 SC-WB design and replaces a UK-built Bulldog-class survey ship of the same name that has been scrapped.
The new Lana will be employed by the Nigerian Navy for Exclusive Economic Zone surveillance, fishery patrols and hydrographic/oceanographic research.
It was launched on 24 September 2020, before departing on 7 December from Les Sables D'Olonne shipyard for sea trials.
