ISDEF 2017: Sa'ar 6 to get additional C-Dome

The Israel navy is finalising the design of the Sa'ar 6 corvettes being built in Germany to accommodate an additional Iron Dome defence system, according to a high ranking naval officer.

The Sa'ar 6 corvettes will have a displacement of 2,000t and will be armed with an Oto Melara 76mm main gun, two Typhoon weapon stations, a 32-cell vertical launch system for Barak-8 surface-to-air missiles, and marinised versions of the Iron Dome point defence system, dubbed C Dome.

The project is being performed jointly by German Naval Yards Holdings and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS),
