IMDEX Asia: USS Fort Worth makes itself at home in Changi

The Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS Fort Worth departed San Diego on 17 November 2014 to begin her 16-month rotational deployment to Singapore, arriving in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility on 4 December.

With the ship expected to remain in Singapore until March 2016, the deployment is claimed to be the longest of a US warship in 42 years, something that will certainly test out the USN’s logistics capabilities.

The 3,500t vessel is equipped with a surface warfare mission package, which includes a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter plus a Northrop Grumman MQ-8B Fire Scout UAV.
