IMDEX Asia: Malaysia, US conduct joint naval exercises

The USS Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group conducted a series of exercises with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) on 10 May while transiting through the South China Sea close to peninsular Malaysia.

F/A-18 Hornets and Super Hornets from the carrier took part in dissimilar air combat training (DACT) exercises with RMAF MiG-29s of 17 and 19 Squadron, Sukhoi Su-30MKMs of 11 Squadron and F/A-18 Hornets of 18 Squadron.
