IMDEX Asia: Asia connects booming regional naval market

A profound shift in the balance of power has led to the reshaping of the global landscape in terms of defence spending, with Asia-Pacific emerging as the new frontier of growth for the maritime industry.

Today the region has surpassed Europe to become the world’s second largest naval market after the US. According to consultancy AMI International, Asia-Pacific is expected to spend around US$200 billion on new ships and submarines by 2031, making up roughly 25% of the global projected market for new naval vessels.
