IMDEX Asia: Turkey boosts Asia naval presence
Turkish manufacturer Aselsan is hoping for additional sales of its naval weapon systems in the Asia Pacific region, after its recent success selling products to Malaysia.
On May 4, the company announced that it had delivered the first SMASH 30mm remote controlled stabilised naval gun system to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
The 1,250kg weapon system completed Harbour Acceptance Test and Sea Site Acceptance Tests on 20 April 2017, according to Aselsan.
The order – which currently totals six – is the first RWS system to be delivered to a customer in the South East Asia region, signifying Turkey's
